We arranged for two days of private tours of areas around Bangkok. First day was a highlight tour of the Temples around Bangkok, including a nice riverboat ride to see the largest Buddha. Today (second day) we wanted to visit the ancient temples and ruins of Ayutthaya. Noc met us promptly at 9am in our Hotel Lobby and was very friendly. We proceeded to head out to our car and made the drive to visit our first stop. Along the way Noc gave us an overview and some of the history of the area. The drive to Ayutthaya was a little longer due to traffic, but the friendly conversation made the time go by quicker. Once we arrived, Noc guided us around the temple areas and also had us stop at various points to take photos (she took many photos and has a very good eye!) as we traveled she shared the photos she captured and by the end of the day we had over 100 nice photos to commemorate our visit. After we visited the temple, she arranged for a boat ride along the canal (khixng) around Ayutthaya, it was very interesting to see the many different temples, personal dwellings and commercial buildings along the way. The boat ride was very relaxing and a nice respite from the heat of the day. Midway through our day we stopped at a local restaurant that Noc recommended and had some excellent food, a couple local Thai dishes that we had not tried before! We continued on to our next destination of our journey which was the world heritage site, including Wat Mahathat. Nok was about as knowledgeable on the history as Thailand as you could hope for. She knew about the kings, their preferences in architecture. The years that things were built and why. She taught us about Thai and Buddhist believes and customs. How offerings are made… it was awesome. After the temple… which is next to the river… she had a boat ready to pick us up for a private ride across the city to see the Giant Buddha from the water. After that we wrapped up the day when they dropped us off at the King Power Mahanakon so we could check out the Skywalk. When I tell you we couldn’t have asked for more… we COULD NOT have asked for more. They showed us around from 7am to 6:30. She was super knowledgeable about the history, customs and culture. She mapped out our day to be more efficient with our time. She had great recommendations and was always flexible and accommodating, and she was just a really cool and friendly person! On top of that, she took TONS of pictures of us with her phone, we didn’t ever even ask her to, she just enjoyed taking our photo and was always ready… and she really has an eye for catching a great photo! She even lined up a driver to take us to the airport the next day! In the end, we had a blast in Bangkok and I don’t think we could’ve gotten any more out of the short time we were there if it weren’t for Nok and Friends. If we come back to Bangkok in the future, we will definitely plan on a day with Nok. 10/10 will recommend to our friends. P.S. Make sure you book well ahead of time!
